The LEAPIG - Laboratory of Applied Statistics to Image Processing and Geoprocessing - was created in 2001 to developd methodologies and techniques related to image processing and geoprocessing.
The laboratory goal is training students and teachers to use and develop spatial analysis methods for studying social and health problems in Brazil, particularly in
the state of Paraiba.
Once the solutions developed at LEAPIG include multidisciplinar aspects, the laboratory has a team composed by
researchers of several areas.
The mais research areas of the laboratory are:
- Geoprocessing
- Spatial Analysis (Spatial Statistics and Geostatistics)
- Image Processing
- Classification and Spatial Decision Support Systems
LEAPIG develops scientific, technologic and innovation projects. Some researche works are included in the
post graduation programs in
Models of Decision and Health and in
Informatics, both from the Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil.
